It has been an interesting week on the automation front. I still far from happy with the current algoirthm I have but it did make a good profit yesterday. I am going to focus on the trade out value this week whilst I monitor the current betting algorithm.
I still think it is placing too many bets. The problem with lots of bets is that you could possible have a day when none of the selections run well and this can have a big dent on the account. Alternatively you could argue that the more bets the more likely to have winning bets and if the prices are right then profit on the day.

Competing bots quite understandly seem to be a bit matrue and clevered than my bot and this is meaning I am not hitting the value or results I want. I have refactored my .NET code so it does the majority of the work and java still places the bet. I am just waiting for betfair to accept my application for a license as I need to monitor the market more often than the free api will allow. I am still pleased with the progress overall and .NET skills are getting better slowly.
I am bit concerned about the new premium charges that betfair have launched but I am sure I find a solution to them.

It started so well with 4 winners from the first 4 races. Then I noticed that the system seemed to have backed a few too many horses. I knew this was a risk with out having the liability checkes in place but was surprised how dramatic an affect it was. No harm down as I lost £8 on the day. I have added some code today which should help with the liability problems. I have increased the stakes marginally as well. If the work around liability check works well then I may well start adding Irish racing to the mix as well soon. Want to test the hell out of this system.

No software problems which is good news. Unfortunately there was a small lose on the day mainly because it backed a few horses that in latter versions it won’t. I knew this was a risk but sometimes you have to bite the bullet and release stuff that is not quite finished. I am still in profit over the 2 days.
For day 3 I have a made a slight adjustment in the staking and will be avoided some of the bigger priced horses whilst I work on actually backing only the selections I did when I do it manually. Still feeling amazingly positive.

I used the minimum £2 stakes and made a profit of £60. All automated and without the trade out module. This goes live today so it will be interesting to see how things go. I am only automatically betting on English races right now but will expand to Ireland and France when I am sure everything is working well.
There were a few glitches like betting on horses in running when it should have and backing horses when the liquidity was not quite right. I have fixed most of these issues but still need to work on the liquidity component of things. This will take a few weeks to get exactly right.
The automation process uses 3 different and varying technologies. The daily setup data is gathered and analysed using a .NET program. The selections are evaluated using a Progress program. The bets are placed using a java program.
I have some many more improvements to add to the automation process, so it is extremely pleasing that the very first version made a profit on day 1. If this continues over the next few weeks then I will be extremely happy.

Well after so much hype and talk on my behalf about the fully automated Wilkinson system I finally made it happen today. It has been trading all day and placed over 100 bets. With 2 races to go it is in profit. I will made some minor adjustments tomorrow but to be honest this is a momentus day and I overwhelmed with how well it has gone. Quite simply I can print money. Well done mate. You did it.

It has been a very interesting few months. Ultimately the last few months have been the most successful to date of my life. Verison 2.0 of the Wilkinson system is basically a cash cow and the automated version 3.0 promised to be a whole lot better when it finally goes live this weekend.
To give you a flavour last night at Great Leighs , Wilkinson 2.0, selected the followingPiccolo Diamante 16/1 (WON), Bienheureux 11/1 (2rd) , Pressed For Time 11/2 (1st), Rosy Mantle16/1 (1st), Jollyhockeystick 10/1 (1st), Valdan 5/1 (1st). Yes, 5 from 6.
