It was back to winning ways today albeit I still had my fair share of back luck. My first selection was Cork All Star which I backed at 9/4 and was duly well supported in 6/4 favourite. It made 2 mistakes which proved costly and it finished second.
This was soon forgotten as my second selection Group Captain won cosily by 6 lengths and drifted from an early price of 6/4 out to 15/8. I backed with boyles as I thought it could drift. Nice one.
The next selection was Dream Alliance. When I arrived back from the shops the race was nearly finished and Dream Alliance was 8 lengths clear and odds on in running. Then 3 out he managed to shake off Ricard Johnson. I quickly checked betfair and to my relief I have traded out already. Before I could enjoy that moment I saw that Crystal D-Ainay was staying on. I had some money on this one as a saver at 9/1. It won… Now if Dream Alliance had won I would have won more but I can’t complain with that result. The trade out worked perfectly.
I knew at this point I was going to have a profit day. Wilkinson was already flying at this point. On to the next race. I dutched Bible Lord and Counsin Nicky with my usual bet persistance trade outs. I knew a long time before the race ended I was all greened up.
The last race I had Classic Fiddle. I had taken an early price of evens despite the fact it was drifting with the bookies at this time. Albeit this was not the case with the exchanges. I could have taken 5/6 with a best odds guaranteed firm but thought at worst it would only drift to 11/10. I got this one wrong as it drifted to a massive 13/8. Wilkinson had smashed in to King Louis at 7/2 and this shortened to 5/2. A patient ride by Mick Fitzgerald result in another winning albeit annoyed about the price. You win some you lose some.
