As I said in my audio clip this was a surprisingly busy Sunday in fact it was the busy days racing involvement of the year for me both in terms of bets and money stakes. The net result was a story of near misses, bad luck and a score draw in my fight against the bookies albeit a morale victory for me.
The first near miss came in Kelso 1.05 when Topaz Lady was making smooth headway 3 out only to unseat the rider. Looked nailed on for a 8/1 winner. Sprosser then returned some cheer by winning at 9/2. I had this down as a 2 horse race so although the field was reduced to 6 runners I really did think 9/2 each way with boyles was the way to go. Unless it fell I was sure it would finished at least second as it turned out it won which was a nice bonus.
The next disappointment came in 3.25 at Southwell where the field was reduced to 7 and I have a double each way bet on Book of facts which finished 3rd despite trading as low as 2.24 in running. Non runners can really sod you up and this was a classic case.
The final bid disappointmen of the day came in Kempton 4.05. I had backed Bo McGinty at 18/1 each way only to see it finished as the bridgesmaid. Would have made a great weekend rather than a good weekend had it managed to rally and regain the lead.
Profit the day: £176.15
Profit for the month: £11102.81
3 days of racing left in the month. A very good month so far following on from December’s solid result. I am a little nervous about February as it would be nice to maintain this good run but you need some luck on your side in relation to weather and racing being on. Not long now until Cheltenham which again should be a marvellous event.
