I like to thank Ray, Keith, Ben, John, Jo, Laura, Clare and all the many other people who have wished me well with this system. It is far from finished now but I think the results will demonostrate over the next few days, weeks and months how good it is.
Despite being very confident about my new trading system when it hit about 1.30pm this afternoon I was quite nervous about using the software for the first time with real money. I think after weeks of telling everybody how good the system was, I was concerned that it might disappoint.
In fact I was so nervous I decided to do one more test before using real money. The first race of the day was Wolverhampton and the system highlighted Rambling Light as the best horse to trade. With this being the eventual winner of the race the trade would have completed nicely.
So on I went to 2.05 Sandown. The horse in question this time was Or Jaune which was around the 8/1 mark with bookies but hovering around 10.0 mark on betfair. Just before the off I backed it at 10.5 and admittedly laid off 9.94 securing a 57p profit what ever the outcome. A silly trade but I have the flexibility to lock in early profit if I like with this system. More on this later.
The first serious and in running trade was in 2.15 Ayr where I backed Rossin Gold at 5.5 looking to lay off at 2.8. The favourite stole the show and I lost £10. I had selected a Roi of 190% which meant the parameters had been set to around 50% strike ratio so it was surprising that this resulted in a loss.
The next trade was in 2.20 Wolverhampton. I upped the strike ratio on the system to 70%. It then backed Jack Sulivan for £20 at 4.3 and have a successful trade out at £40 at 2.2. Nice trade and well done to the system. Jack Sulivan was well beaten and only went as low as 2.08 in running so the system did what I consider a very good trade out on this one.
The next trade was in 2.35 at Sandown. I set the strike ratio back to 50% as I thought that Tony McCoy confident words would help us with Howrweknow. This was backed at 2.96 and lay placed in the system at 1.9. It was not quite matched as Howrweknow only went into 1.97. Close but no cigar and another £10 in the red.
With confidence slightly dented it was onto the next race which was the 2.55 at Wolverhampton. I backed Ektimall at 2.52 for £20 and successfully traded out at 1.75. Securing an £8.33 profit after commission.
The next trade was at Chepstow in 3.00. I backed Brochura at 12.5. I had selected a 50% strike ratio and therefore the system looked to trade out at 6.2. Brochura got as low as 7.0 but never quite got close enough for this trade.
I was determined to finish the day on a profit so for the final 3 trades I set the strike hit ratio to 80%. Endless Power was backed at 5.1 and nearly immediately in-running laid of for 4.3. Securing a £2.69 profit if it won and £4 if it lost. It won. Strange one there may have to see if there a little bug somewhere in the code. Anyway a profitably trade so happy.
The 4.10 Chepstow was the next trading race and a good one for the system. It backed Southerdown at 7.00 for £10 and laid it back for £20 at 3.5.
The final trade came in the 4.30 Ayr with Kersure Lad. The system backed it to win at 3.3 for £10 and laid it for £17 at £1.96, profit of £6.74.
The final stats are:- Total risked: £100 Total Return: £117.18 So a modest ROI of 17.18%
To be honest I was tinkering too much with the variables and will be a little more focused tomorrow.
On the gambling side had another bad day at the office. Two systems in particular continue to perform terribly and well below their normal strike ratio’s.

The four best days in racing are upon us and the excitement
levels are reaching fever pitch here at SportingOdds. Whenever we bump into
each other we’re always discussing who are our good things at Prestbury Park.
With the treacherous weather continuing this looks like being a fascinating
Festival where anything could happen. To celebrate this great occasion we’re
offering all new clients £40 worth of Free Bets as well as this we’re refunding
stakes on Half Length Refunds and going ¼ races on all races.
The roar that greets the tapes going up in the Supreme
Novices takes the breath away on every occasion but it’s the Smurfit Champion
Hurdle 75 minutes later that will almost certainly provide the highlight of the
day if not the Festival. One young horse has taken this division by storm this
season but can Detroit City defy the negative stats and Irish triumvirate and
claim the ultimate hurdling crown. Last year’s winner Brave Inca has been workmanlike
this season but trainer Colm Murphy has had this warrior 100% tip top at the
last three festivals and I think he’ll prove too strong for the too young
Detroit City and too old Hardy Eustace. You can back him with us at a juicy 3/1!
On Game Spirit day I was in the office screaming the
building down as Well Chief crushed his rivals at Newbury and when a colleague
asked me how much I’d won I replied, “Nothing! We’ve just got a great horse
back!” I’d like to think most racing fans felt the same last month but there
are big questions surrounding his potential success in the Seasons Hotel Queen
Mother Champion Chase. Will he bounce? Will the ground suit him? With the
inclement weather continuing it’s worth having a look at Nickname who loves the
mud. You can back him at 9/2 with SportingOdds.
The
World Hurdle is the highlight of the Thursday and Black Jack Ketchum is at the
nucleus of the debate. Does he have a chance after his Cleeve Hurdle flop? Will
it be too soft for him? Will he actually get to the post? There’s no doubt his
performance at Cheltenham in January was most disconcerting but he is
undoubtedly the class horse of the race so do you back him or turn your back on
him? Well personally I can’t be with him as there are too many question marks
surrounding him so I’ll plump for the young Blazing Bailey who beat him so
convincingly in the Cleeve. I think it may be asking a lot of the valiant
Inglis Drever to win this race two years after his last win and with a backlog
of injuries on his CV.
FRIDAY
If
Kauto Star wins the Gold Cup on the final day of the festival I think his
2006/07 season will go down as one of the greatest in modern times. To win a
Tingle Creek, King George and Gold Cup in three months is nothing short of
sensational. I think it would be great for racing if he won but there have to
be big question marks over not only his jumping but also the trip and ground.
As the rain continues to fall I’m casting my eye over horses like The Listener
and L’Ami as the soft-ground alternatives. I can’t believe I’m typing this but
I’ve even thought about Beef Or Salmon. Yes, the horse that hates Cheltenham
more than One Man might just raise the roof on Gold Cup day. Err, did I really
type that!
It’s sure to be a fantastic four days of action and we’re
offering all new clients a juicy £40 worth of free bets. Allied with this we’re
giving all clients Half Length Refunds and ¼ Odds on all 24 races.

Arnie’s joint is price 4/1 with vc bet (£50), bet365 (£25) , betfred (£25) and sporting odds (£10). It is hovering between 4.7 and 4.8 on the exchanges and has been for a while.
Only noticed as I am backing a couple in this race and have been able to trade them quite nicely.

Codenamed the "SuperJo" System goes for its first live trial today. I had hoped to be a bit further forward than I am now but I believe it is good enough to return a decent roi as it stands so I will be using with real money today for the first time today. I will post the results here later. I am still working on further enhancements to the program. The beauty is the system is designed with this in mind. Each day should return a profit and therefore the slab is clean after each days trading so to speak.
The sun has come out to mark this day as well. With Cheltenham festival next week should be an interesting time. The only problem is there are not enough hours in the day. With some many bookmaker concessions to take advanatege of as well going to a busy time for me. On that note I end this post.
