First mental test of the year

Most of the portfolio of systems I am using got involved today and they all lost money.  In fact I lost over 12% of my total bank in one day.  So you ask how do I feel?  Well strangley I feel now better than the races have finished.   I felt a little apprehensive before but now that I know I got the right prices and kept the faith then there is nothing else I can do other to rely on the homework I have done.

Many of the systems I am using are due a turn in fortunes based on previos results and strike ratio’s.  Now this is far from guarantee and talking to other people who are subscribed to information and rating lines I am not aware of any systems that are not struggling.   It seems the last couple of months have been tough.

There is no guarantee things will get better and even less guarantee that they will get better before my bank runs out but I made what I believed to be an informed strategy at the beginning of the year and I fully intend to see it through to the bitter end.   Based on today that might not be that far away. :)

Anyway I hope my regular readers faired better than me today.  I am looking forward to tomorrow’s racing where hopefully I can win some money back.  Any profit would be welcomed.  I really could do we a couple of weeks solid profit.

The fifth day of the year

It is still early in the month. I have 2 winning days and 2 losing days.  Most of my portfolio is in profit except for 2 systems which are well over due a change in fortune.   I will keep patience as long as my bank allows and keep backing them.   Some people have said why don’t you ditch the systems that are not performing.  My view is a 12 month view.  If a system makes me a profit over a 12 month period them I am happy.    My experience is that some of the best systems do have 3 - 6 months bad periods but things change very rapidly.   If you have a well managed bank then this bad periods should not be too much of a problem.  Time will tell if I am right.   I always try and keep things in perspective.  The end of the day is it is only money.  Yes, it hard earned money but other than death and taxes there are no other certainties in life.

Today’s racing looks a little more interesting than the start of the week but I am going to wait a bit longer before making any possible selections.   I am off to my parents this evening and I am hope to start the trial of some of my trading systems at the weekend which should be fun.
