Course was good yesterday which was pleasing. Clare did a great job with the bets albeit the systems let her down. It will be a losing month January so I will be looking forward to a return to form of some systems in February.

From tomorrow I will be on a course for 4 days so Clare will be running the show in regards to betting and laying. She has been practicing over the weekend but as with most things it is easier when the expert is around to help. This is the dilema which comes with horse race betting which is pretty unique as most other sports have periods when there is not much action. Missing that 25/1 or a series of 9/2 winners could make a big difference on the flip side it could be a losing spell. I have choosen not to have a break but still be able to be focused on my course.
I am working very hard on systems that will allow me to take complete periods of time off but for now I have to stick with what I know. With just 3 days of the betting month to go it looks as if January will be a losing month. On only 2 days have the month been in profit and there have been too many big losing days and not enough big winning days.
The all weather season and national hunt seasons are now in full swing so Febraury could be a strong month. March brings the start of the flat season and the big festivals for the national hunt season. So far the national hunt season has been very disappointing this year after 2 very good years. Hopefully there will be a strong finish and I have a good flat season as last years was very bad and only supported by a very good all weather season.

It has been an uneventful weekend to be honest. On Saturday I lost all of Friday’s winnings despite being on a number of well backed horses, the luck was just not with me. I did however make a very nice profit on the football. This was especially pleasing as I have managed to diversify my portfolio and successfully too. There will be a lot more of this to come in the next few months. I will be targeting tennis, golf and snooker.
I have set a target date of the 10th March 2007 for the launch of my new horse trading software. I am very confident that this will be successful and will posting how it progresses from the 10th March. I will be having the week of Cheltenham off work so I will get a good run that week.
My favourite bookmaker of the week was Victor Chandler as I cashed on their free fall promotion yesterday on channel 4 races. They seem to be doing this quite often so it worth checking their site every day. What I have been doing is backing a selection with them and laying it on the exchanges. If the horse does not finished then I get a free bet, lovely.

For the second time in the year I am in profit. I started the year with 4.48 points profit on day 1 then slumped 8 days later to over 60 points down. 3 winning days in a row has meant I am now a little over 4 points up on rough calculations will know exactly when I am home and do my accounts. Following yesterday’s 10/1 winner from the bet collection, Brimardon provided with a nice 8/1 winner today. The portfolio has is showing some value with 4 systems in profit and 4 not.

A 10/1 winner in the last race at Warwick means the account stands only 7.25 points down for the month. It has been a rocky ride and at the end of racing on the 9th Janaury I was over 60 points down. The $64 million dollar question is will I make a profit this month after all.
The breakdown is as follows:-
System 1: -16.02
System 2: -5.13
System 3: -15.50
System 4: 2.43
System 5: 0.22
System 6: 15.45
System 7 -2.3
System 8: 13.6
4 systems in profit and 4 in loss.
It is going to a tough day at work today and it looks as if I will be working most of the weekend too which is a shame. In return I will take a quiet Monday to refresh ready for a 4 day course next week. Can not remember the last time I went on a course so will be a change for me and rest from the stress and strain at work.

I am back from my short business trip to Munich. Thanks to the snow both journeys were delayed and as a consequence I am pretty tired today. Work is very stressful and emotional at the moment as the effect of our latest buy out start to hit home and people’s jobs become at risk. To be honest I can understand change that is based on strong foundations but the changes I am aware of our based and undelivered complex projects. I am aware I am not expert but it is just my opion based on the very limited observations that I have made.
On the gambling front I managed to gets my bets and lays on ok on my mobile phone in Germany which was a relief. At the moment I am consistently have a winning day followed by a losing day. Overall I slipped back a bit this week. 2 out of my 8 systems are performing very badly and this is of some concern as 1 these systems has been performing badly for a long time now. There were a couple of encouraging results this month and I thought the corner may have been turned but that seems a distant memory now.
There are 6 betting days left of Janaury to turn things around. It looks as if January is going to be a losing month I am just hoping that I do not return to levels at the start of the month and that would be extremely disappointing.
Very disappointed about the Spurs result and a shame that Martin Jol did not have the faith in Mido that was required. To be honest I still think we can go through, especially if we can get Berbatov, King and Jenas fit in time for the second leg.

Another solid winning day means the bank is nearly back to parity standing at around 95%. This is excellent recovery after a disastrous start. Hoepfully this run will continue and lead me in to the profit zone for the year fairly soon. 4 systems are in profit and 4 systems are in loss.
This is probably my last post for a few days as I am going to Munich on business tomorrow and won’t be back until late Wednesday. I will miss Tottenham Semi-Final against Arsenal which is disappoiting. Hopefully the yids will put in a great displays and come away with a good advantage of 2-3 goals.

According to the experts today is supposed to be the worse day of the year. If this is the case then it is going to a good year. Yes, I have woken up, after not sleeping well and aching all over after a very busy weekend. The thing is I have a plan that I am happy with and I am focused in my approach to achieving it. If I achieve then I will have a different set of problems to address.
On the racing front it was a losing day yesterday with one winner and one losing lay selection. It looks as if the weather is going to have a big affect on the racing this week so I guess my efforts will be focussed on the all weather.

With over 5% of year already over I thought it was time to take stock and have an assessment of how things are going. The year started with a solid winning day of 4.48 points but then this was followed by 7 losing days out of 8 including some big ones. In fact on the 9th January I had lost 27% of my betting bank.
There is no doubt I did some soul searching and reflecting but I checked my calculations and my reasoning and I was happy to continue without any changes. I am trying to be professional in my thinking and my actions so I have stuck to the plan.
The next 11 days have provided seven winning ones, 3 losing ones and 1 no bet day. I have I am still in red zone by my bank is down by 9.6% thus I have recovered 17.4% of it in the last week and a bit. I know there are going to be more losing periods and maybe larger amount but I have to stick to my plans.
The standings of the various systems are as follows:-
System 1: -12.79
System 2: -6.31
System 3: -19.50
System 4: -2.07
System 5: 3.65
System 6: 10.65
System 7: -5.3
System 8: 7.6
5 systems in the red and only 3 in profit. It would be nice if 5 could be in profit by the end of the month but lets see what the next 11 days bring.
