11 days to go! - Cheltenham Festival

I woke up this morning and the adrenalin is pumping.  The thing I love about the Cheltenham festival is the sheer anticipation of the event the build and the excitement are unmatched by any other experience.   The best thing is they made in 4 days which means when it’s all over it one less day until the next festival.   If you have never actually been to this event then i strongly suggest you go.  It is not too late for this year and you will have an experience that you will talk about for the rest of your life.

The beauty about the Cheltenham festival versus say Royal Ascot is that the racing is the more important event.  Everywhere you go everybody is taking about there view on who is going to win and who is not. Who the best jockeys and trainers are?   You have people from every walk of life minging and conversing about one subject the sport of kings.

If you are fotunate enough to select a winner at the festival and you cheer it home up the Cheltenham then you will know what it is like to feel the king.  55,000 people will share your jubilation.   My best feeling was when Hardly Eustace made all to beat Roaster Booster.  I have taken a very genous 40/1 on Hardly Eustace and never felt that I would not collect.   I had selected the winners in the 2 previous racing and I felt as if I could do know wrong.   I had complete stranger kiss and hugging me, shaking my hand.   Most of them had backed Roster Booster but still wanted to be part of my happiness rather than dwell on what might have been.

The reverse has happened to me as well when I backed Sir Rembrandt and Harbour Pilot both at 40/1 to beat Best Mate.   It looked to me as if Best Mate would just be caught on the line and I was sure I was going to be collecting big again.  As we know the brave Best Mate pulled out a litte more and won.   I think 90% of the crowd had backed him and the place erupted.   I joined in and felt as if I am played my part in a historic moment.

So if you can spare a day to go to the festival and you have never been before I strongly recomend it.
I have put a link below for lastminute who are still selling packages.   I believe other than the friday there are still tickets available.

Over the weekend I will continue to work through the  form books and guides and get every race analysed for which I will place a commentary on this blog and also my main site.   Last year I learnt a lesson at Cheltenham when I got over confident and got lulled into a false confidence.  It was the first time in 18 years of betting at Cheltenham that I made a loss.  So as you can imagine I can not wait to get back the loan I gave to bookies last year :)
